ABOUT US Ascot Brass was formed in 2001 and is comprised of brass players drawn from some ten different bands located mainly in the Thames Valley area. Due to the commitments of the members' other bands, Ascot Brass performs only a limited number of concerts at the present time, all of which are in aid of raising funds for charitable organisations. The Band is itself a registered charity, In 2005 the band was privileged to arrange Windsor's "Trafalgar Salute", a gala concert of celebration and reconciliation to mark the bi-centenary of the Battle of Trafalgar. The concert, which was held in Windsor Parish Church, raised over £2000 for Macmillan Cancer Relief. Ascot Brass concerts also provide a showcase for young musicians as guest artists. This is in line with the band's policy to foster and encourage young musical talent of every genre within the community and bring it to a wider audience. Another important part of the band's calendar of events is to provide music at premier race meetings at the world renowned Ascot Racecourse. In 2009, Ascot Brass was honoured to become the first non-military band to play at Royal Ascot. Being a composite band, we have no band room facilities of our own at present. Rehearsals initially took place in Ascot but in 2006 we moved nearer the M4 corridor. We are grateful to the authorities at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Maidenhead for allowing us to use their church hall for our rehearsals which are held three times a month.
