Maidenhead Salvation Army

Ascot Brass, with the support of the Maidenhead Salvation Army Songsters (choir), played a concert on the evening of 29th February to a full hall at the Salvation Army Maidenhead.

New to the repertoire were the Goff Richards arrangement of Nicolas Brodszky's I'll Walk with God and an original romance by Alan Fernie, Forever Shining. Two longer arrangements by Alan Fernie were also on the programme: Bizet's Carmen Suite (featuring Allan Martin, flugel, in the Habanera) and the lively Russian Casatchok.

Solo pieces were Peter Graham's Whirlwind, played by Steve Clapton, and George Lohman's Bayrische Polka, with Lewis Martin on trombone. Our other feature piece was the cornet sextet playing Bugler's Holiday featuring Kelvin Ketteringham (Musical Director Ascot Brass), Andrew Willis, Derek Hawkins, Steve Clapton, Caitlin Jones, and Mark Dallas.

The concert raised a substantial sum towards a new Salvation Army minibus.
